No_Sugar_Apple_Pie-3Things just keep getting better!

I really thought this would be more like the first day where I hated my lunch and felt hungry all day, but last night I couldn’t even finish my dinner salad. I was stuffed. I know it’s only been three days, and I’ve only been tempted with one birthday cupcake and a cookie or two, but I’m really not missing sugar at this point.

I really like salads, but to eat one every day was difficult for me. I think part of what makes this easier, other than I’m not filling my body with unnecessary fillers and preservatives, is that I have invested time into researching and purchasing the right foods. I bought a variety of vegetables for my salads, not just lettuce and tomatoes. I don’t like tomatoes or cucumbers, so I felt limited in the past when it came to salad making. This time I bought romaine, which is my favorite salad starter, as well as a mix of spinach and baby kale. I also use a broccoli slaw mix which has broccoli, cabbage, and carrots all in matchstick cuts. What better way to spruce up a romaine salad! Of course I added avocado, feta, and some cheddar cheese. I love cheese!

I am eating more apples. I’m not a fan of most fruits, but I do like a good granny smith. I find myself having one for snack almost every day, and raisins for dessert after dinner. Of course, even while watching my calories, I previously indulged in cookies and cupcakes for dessert. As I pointed out before, I’m not missing those things, and loving raisins for the first time in my life.

I have cut down on my need for sweeteners in my coffee and tea. One of my parents brought us Starbucks yesterday. She was so sweet to call and ask what to get since she knows I’m watching my calorie intake. When she arrived with a non-fat caffè latte I was thrilled, and it only took one package of Stevia and not my previous 2-3 packages of blue or yellow stuff. It’s not a sweet as I would have previously preferred, but I’m not missing the sweet. I’m actually enjoying the mellow taste of the coffee without hiding it behind the sweetener. I did the same with my iced tea last night; instead of 6 packages, I only used 1-2 Stevia. It’s not because the Stevia is sweeter, I’m just enjoying a less sweet drink.

I’ve already lost 5 pounds! I knew that having just put the 10 pounds on, that I would lose it quickly, but I did not expect 5 pounds in 3 days without starving. If you are looking for a healthier way for your family to eat or if you are looking for the best way to lose weight without starving yourself. I strongly recommend trying a real foods approach. It’s food he way God intended it to be.
